Nokia Arrow And Nokia Atlas Join Nokia Phi

Nokia has announced it will provide Windows Phone 8 smartphones to all major carriers in the US, but after Sprint gave an End-Of-Life status to the HTC Arrive it became clear the third carrier in the States won’t launch any WP smartphone until 2013. Of course, this doesn’t mean the same Sprint won’t come with a Nokia handset next year, but we’d like to see all four carriers with their own Nokia Windows Phone 8 smartphones to make the right choice. However, the rest three carriers are still in game, and The Verge has discovered what devices Nokia will bring to their stores.

We know much about the Nokia Phi. This phone is going to be a high-end smartphone that will be AT&T’s exclusive model. At least, we think so at this stage of.

The next two smartphones are rumored to be the Nokia Arrow—a mid-range device designed for T-Mobile and AT&T as well. Though not that much is known at the moment, the Arrow is said to sport a smaller screen.

The third and the most powerful smartphone is the Nokia Atlas. This phone is designed especially for Verizon, and it’s supposed to be the best Windows Phone ever.

There is no evidence these rumors are true and Nokia has already made three Windows Phone 8 running devices for different carriers, but we can’t say the opposite thing as well. So let’s hope the best and wait for official info.

AT&T Nokia Lumia 900 Waiting For Windows Phone 8779 Tango Update

Though no one is thinking about any Windows Phone update but Windows Phone 7.8, AT&T users that own a Nokia Lumia 900 are so suffered that all hints about a new update are gladdening for them. At the moment I have some news that can make them happy, because as WPCentral notes they have already downloaded and installed Windows Phone 8779 update found on Nokia servers.

A couple of days ago the guys over the aforementioned source have found out via Navifirm+ that there are 8779 OS update designed for AT&T version of the Nokia Lumia 900. This simply means Nokia is ready to push out them to the final users, but when it will happen remains “mysteries of History.” I mean that update can be rolled out in hours to days to even a few more weeks.

As to the update itself, 8779 OS update dubbed Tango includes improvements to MMS including multiple messages and audio file support in addition to other minor changes. Plus, the inclusion of new firmware from Nokia should allow some of Nokia’s exclusive apps like Counters and Contact Share to finally work as well as flip-to-silence. Of course, there are not the only changes, as the update includes some bug fixes and enhancements.

Unfortunately, the update is still only on servers, but if you wish you can download and install it, though it will lay only on your risk. I mean you should flash the ROM, which will wipe the device. Moreover, you will need to use the third-part Nokia Care Suite program to do the flash which could damage the phone.

AT&T Announced Nokia Lumia 900 Coming On April 8

Yesterday was a great day for AT&T subscribers, as the carrier announced that its two high-end smartphones, the Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC Titan II will be launched on April 8. The HTC Titan II will be sold for $199.99 on contract, while the Nokia Lumia 900’s price is $99.99 on contract.

Both handsets run Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, though the Nokia Lumia 900 supports LTE, which is the phone’s key feature. Other than that the Lumia 900 sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.4GHz processor with 512MB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual-Led flash meaning the camera is perfect when taking snaps in dark conditions, a 1.3MP camera on the front intended for web chat, 16GB of internal memory, and so on.

The design of the Nokia Lumia 900 is similar to the Lumia 800, though we must note the designers have worked hard to keep the main lineaments of the first Nokia Windows Phone smartphones.

The pre-orders will start on March 30 and those who make their phones on this date will be the first ones getting their hands on the Lumia 900. At the end, this is one of the most anticipated smartphones of Nokia not only in Europe (I mean its GSM variant), but also in the US, which has refused Nokia’s handsets for years. The pioneer was the Lumia 710 launched via T-Mobile, and now with launch of this high-end smartphone, Nokia gets a chance to get back its authority.

Pink Nokia Lumia 900 Available

There are many smartphone users who are tired of conversations praising the iPhone and do not like Android at all. I am one of them, though this doesn’t mean I love Windows Phone, absolutely no! My attitude towards Windows Phone is loyal, I mean everything I write about this OS, I try to introduce it objectively. Honestly, I think this software deserves more market share, and when Microsoft came up with Windows Phone 7, I was one of those that believed this platform will succeed. Now when Microsoft has already announced Windows Phone 8 and we know what awesome features it will bring, I am afraid Nokia can lose its positions in the future market, where WP will dominate. That’s why I am not happy that AT&T has launched the pink Nokia Lumia 900. I am not happy even when I learned it is offered for the half price we have been waiting for.

If you still

don’t get what I mean, I want to say the Lumia 900 is already in the past, and the true Nokia fans are waiting for news referring to Windows Phone 8 devices. Say I’d like to hear how Nokia confirms the leaked Lumia 1001.

Unfortunately or fortunately, today we have to confirm the existence of the pink Lumia 900 in stores of AT&T. As I’ve said the phone is available at $49.99, though we have been waiting the carrier will require the same price what it did when the cyan,black/white model was launched. Luckily AT&T has dropped the the price of the pink Nokia Lumia 900 by half.

AT&T To Push Out Windows Phone 7.5 Tango Update Soon

Nokia has four devices running Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS, but only one of them was launched with Tango aboard. That was the Lumia 610. Currently, all models from Lumia series are getting their dose of Windows Phone 7.5 Tango/Refresh update. Moreover, it’s been also rumored the Lumia 610, 710, and 900 are being updated to post-8773 version. But AT&T has not announced anything till today, and only now we learn the carrier will be pushing out that popular Tango update to the Lumia 900 users at some point in coming weeks.

While AT&T subscribers are waiting for this update that will change the software version to 8773, users in the other continent are waiting for the promised Windows Phone 7.8 update, which will bring some WP8 features.  On the whole, AT&T consumers are not in the best position when it comes to Windows Phone updates, because initially it was rumored the white version will be launched with a new firmware, but close to the release we learned it will come with an old version of OS. I even there was a clarification provided by AT&T why they wouldn’t update their Lumia 900 to the newer version and so on. But this smartphone is the first worthy handset of Nokia launched in the US, so it’s unclear for me why the carrier has such an attitude towards this phone.

On the other hand, people are satisfied with what they have currently, and that’s not only my words but those 96 percent positive reviews left on Amazon.

Pink Nokia Lumai 900 Via AT&T On July 15

Each color of Nokia Lumia handset has its meaning, I think you guessed it. For example, the pink Lumias talk about women’s feministic views or the aggressive side of femininity. That’s why mostly this color perfectly suits ladies, and you won’t find men using pink-colored handsets. But I remember when HTC announced the Rhyme, which had some feminine apps and accessories, and was launched in purple, many people were thinking this phone had been designed only for girls, but the survey showed people didn’t think so. I mean everything in this life is relative, and if you want to own a magenta Lumia handset, get it. Moreover, if you want that phone sports high-end features, you won’t have problems, because AT&T has already announced the magenta Lumia 900.

The phone will hit AT&T stores this month, and what’s more important there will be no changes in smartphone’s specs list and deal details. Thus the magenta Lumia 900 will boast of a 4.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a single-core 1.4GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, an 8MP rear camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash and Carl Zeiss optics, a 1.3MP frontal camera for self portraits, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS, and Nokia Collection apps.

As to the deal itself, the phone will be available on July 15, and the carrier will require the same $99.99 on contract. The latter will put you in touch with AT&T terms of two years.

Nokia Lumia 900 Compared With Galaxy Nexus

The Nokia Lumia 900 is already reality, as today it is

launched in some countries. So that’s the right time to dig in its features and find out what features will help the phone to win users’ hearts, especially it refers to the first time users at which Nokia and Microsoft are aimed. But reviewing the phone will cost nothing, if it is not compared with another respectable device, say with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus—the first Android 4.0-packed smartphones.

The Nokia Lumia 900 is available for $99.99 on contract at AT&T, but if you are a newcomer, the phone will be yours for free. However, there is also Walmart’s offer, $49.99, and Amazon’s offer, $0.01. As for the Galaxy Nexus, it is exclusively launched via Verizon. Big Red requires $299.99 with a two-year contract, though the phone can be found at Amazon for $99.99 as well.

Both handsets support LTE, though Verizon has more experience in this area. Supposedly this must give some advantage to the Galaxy Nexus, but the tests showed AT&T’s LTE network is more stable.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus’ battery will provide up to 16 hours for ordinary usage, thus if you manage the apps, it will be quite a respectable device. The Lumia 900 will keep the phone working up to 24 hours, which a better indicator.

At the end, the Lumia 900 sports a 4,3-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels, while the Galaxy Nexus comes with a 4,65-inch Super AMOLED Advanced screen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. But before you make your verdict, watch the video below provided by PocketNow.

FCC Approves Nokia Lumia 900

AT&T will be the exclusive carrier in the territory of the US to offer the first Windows Phone handset supporting LTE network. But this fact is not as much important as Nokia will launch its second handset in the States. The Lumia 710 has managed to become available via T-Mobile and that was the first step by the US carriers. Fortunately, T-Mobile benefited from its sales and now it’s turn of the Lumia 900, which is promised to be a great handset with high-end specs. At the moment we have no exact launch date, but the phone has got FCC approval, thus we will wait for its release not that long.

The documentation of the Federal Communications Commission shows what we have known earlier. I mean we still will find a 4.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen powered with ClearBlack Display technology and protected by Gorilla Glass, a 1.4GHz processor, an 8MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, dual-LED flash that is an ideal solution for taking cool photos in dark conditions, a VGA frontal camera for web chat, 16GB of internal storage, 512MB of RAM and Windows Phone 7.5 Mango on board.

After the jump you can find the whole photo gallery provided by FCC. In the photos the Nokia Lumia 900 is torn down in order to help geeks to be aware what is under the hood, and whether it deserves to be launched via the second biggest carrier in the US. I personally think the Lumia 900 is a great phone that is good in any aspect.

Pink Nokia Lumia 900 Coming

Nokia is known for its multicolor palette, I mean dig in Nokia’s portfolio and you’ll find handsets in any color you wish. The Lumia line handsets are the best proof of my words: the Nokia Lumia 800 is available in black, magenta, cyan, and white; the Nokia Lumia 710 comes in black, White (front)/ black, white, cyan, fuchsia, yellow (back); the Nokia Lumia 900 is available in black, white, and cyan: and finally the Nokia Lumia 610 is sold in white, cyan, magenta, and black. Moreover, the latter is also rumored to be launched in orange and purple, but this is not confirmed yet, while the pink Nokia Lumia 900 is a reality, and as Navifirm Plus shows it will be released very soon.

The phone is listed in Nokia’s servers as RM-808 VAR ATT MAGENTA (059N3B9), which corresponds with the same ROM and firmware available for the current cyan, matte black and glossy white versions already available on AT&T.

Unfortunately, AT&T or other carrier that has launched this phone don’t mention when exactly the magenta variant of the Nokia Lumia 900 is going to hit the shelves. But we already know it’s on the way, so we’d better take a quick look at its specs:

  • 4.3-inch AMOLED display at 480×800 pixel resolution, Gorilla Glass, ClearBlack Display
  • 1.4GHz processor
  • 8MP rear camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash, Carl Zeiss optics
  • 1.3MP frontal camera
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 16GB of native storage
  • Windows Phone 7.5 Mango (upgradable to Windows Phone 7.8).

Nokia Lumia 900 vs iPhone 4S: Comparison Video

AT&T was the first and the exclusive carrier to offer the iPhone for years. Now there are three such carriers in face of Verizon Wireless and Sprint, but people still associate the iPhone with AT&T. however, the iPhone 4S is not the only high-end smartphone launched via this carrier, as there are other manufacturers, other platforms and other brands as well. When talking about AT&T’s portfolio we must remember HTC, which Titan and Vivid are two monster handsets that can attract any consumer. But during last days we have been concerned of only one question—when the first LTE-enabled WP handset dubbed the Nokia Lumia 900 will get launched.

Now the phone’s launch date and pricing is known, so there are left no other questions without an answer. Moreover, we have even managed to watch a leaked video, where the yet-unreleased Lumia 900 was shown. Now we have another chance to look at the phone, though it is thrown into a comparison with the iPhone 4S we have been talking about above.
